The Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation's annual charity golf tournament -- the Bedpan Open, held for many years as the Kathy Allsop Memorial -- is our largest fundraiser. Here is each year's tournament, newest first.

The Foundation’s Bedpan Golf Tournament held on September 10 was such a success!

It’s that time of year again! MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS about the annual Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation Golf Tournament on September 10/26 at the Crowsnest Pass Golf Club. Team enrollment will open on March 16. MUST register with Joan Koinberg before payment. Payment must be made by March 31 to hold your team’s spot. Payment link will be made available on March 16. Payment is also accepted via cheque or cash to Joan at the hospital, or at the Scotiabank in Blairmore, or e-transfer at cnphealthfoundation@gmail.com . Cost is $200/pp and will include the ever-amazing prime rib dinner, 18 holes of awesome golf, cart, great prizes and auctions, and a guaranteed great time! We are so grateful that this event fills up quickly so please keep that in mind and register asap as spots are limited. As much as we love to hear from you though, please do not attempt to register before March 16 so it gives everyone equal opportunity to register. Thank you and have a great day!!!

Health Foundation Bed Pan Open
The 26th Health Foundation annual golf tournament was held last Thursday in picture perfect weather. The always sold out event featured 36 teams and this year for the first time there were six NHL alumni players and a retired NFL football player that were part of the event. On the Wednesday evening prior, participants in the tournament bid by live auction for the right to have one of them on their team. Players Dana Murzyn, Joel Otto, Wayne McBean, Lindsay Carson, Dean Kennedy, Darcy Wakaluk, and Mark Rypien were all in fine form for this fun-filled evening. When all was said and done the auction added a whopping $9800 to the foundation’s drive towards raising $50,000 this year. The overall final number is not in yet but it is looking good for their goals this year. Amongst all that they support they have set their sights on much needed hospital equipment including ceiling lifts for Continuing Care and tub chairs.
As always these tournaments have a whole raft of prizes for things like highest score team, longest drive, closest to the pin,hole’s in one and so on. This year also featured a novel event called Aim for Alcohol. Players could stop at the putting green and for a fee try and putt golf balls to hit strategically placed bottles. If you hit one you got to keep it.
The overall winning team featured Kent Strandquist, Gord Brecht, Darren Coloumbe, and Arther Desroches. The wrap up at the end of the day featured a prime rib dinner with raffle draws and silent auction items being announced. Some of numbers that have been tallied so far are, 50/50 Draw-$845,Aim for Alcohol – $1225, Mulligans – $640, Hole # 3 – $910, raffle/wine table – $1900 and the silent auction – $3225. One silent auction item was a beautiful and extremely rare Franz Koci painting donated by his daughter.
The volunteerism that it takes to pull this event off is just amazing and demonstrates the foundation’s commitment and determination to enhance “the best of health for everyone. ”

2021 Annual Golf Tournament
2020 -- Tournament cancelled
After much consideration the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation has decided to cancel the 2020 Golf Tournament slated for June 19, 2020. We hope to see everybody in June 2021! Please look after yourselves!!
The 23rd Annual Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation Golf Tournament would have taken place on the 3rd Friday in June with over 100 participants from our community and across Southern Alberta coming out to support our local hospital. Until the unprecedented year 2020, we have never cancelled our tournament but did postpone it due to the flood in 2013. Although we cannot hold the usual event this year, we feel that it would be fun and healthy if everyone who enjoys the game to join our “Virtual CNP Golf Tournament” by playing a round of golf with family or friends during the month of June. We would like to share in your experiences so please e-mail a photo of your group to Joan.Koinberg@ahs.ca to be published in our upcoming CNP Health Foundation Newsletter. Over the years, as our largest fundraising event, the CNP Health Foundation Golf tournament has been generously supported by close to 100 sponsors. Through their continued contributions and players supporting our event, the Health Foundation has been able to purchase important equipment such as a portable ultrasound machine, vital signs monitors, operating room equipment and Lifepak machines, all of which are used on a daily basis in our hospital. During the past months we all discovered how important our health care workers and well-equipped hospitals are to our families. Course staff and our Foundation volunteers ensure you enjoy your 18 holes and dinner, and our sponsors provide an array of great prizes for golfers (fun is always emphasized over competition).
