 Support from Our Community Minimize

Crowsnest Livingstone Victim Services have stocked the Comfort Room at Crowsnest Pass Health Centre with a supply of fresh blankets. Embroidered with the organization's logo, the blankets are for any families using the Comfort Room who may need them. Victim Services will keep the Comfort Room supplied with blankets in the future as needed, their way of showing support for this vital community asset.

Enhancing Local Health Care Services Minimize

Piece of the Pie for the Pass!

Community Savings Credit Union completed fund raising for a Dual Scope Washer by donating the final $5,000 of the $45,000 needed to make the purchase. To celebrate, Community Savings treated staff to pie and refreshments on October 23rd, 2007. "We were delighted to wrap up the project early," said Foundation Chairman Fran Amundsen. "We expected to still be fund raising for the scope washer as part of our Christmas campaign."

The Dual Scope Washer doubles the capacity of a local surgical day by speeding wait times between procedures. "It's a great enhancement, and we're grateful to everyone who helped make it happen," said Unit Manager Valerie Jasman.

            Thanks, Community Savings!!!

New Life Saving Unit in Place Minimize
A Neonatal Transport Unit, purchased for Crowsnest Pass Health Centre at a cost of $21,000, is already getting infants the care they need in far less time.
It used to take up to six hours to transport a newborn in Crowsnest Pass to a Calgary facility for specialized care. This much time would elapse as Calgary assembled a care team then picked up the patient by fixed wing aircraft or helicopter.
The addition of a Neo-Natal Transport Unit in Crowsnest Pass slashes the time required to get that same newborn safely to a Calgary care facility to as little as two and a half hours. The Neo-Natal Transport Unit provides the same specialized level of care as an air ambulance transfer in a one way ground transfer. Hours are saved in the process, and time is the most crucial factor in critical care delivery. Newborns can also be transferred to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge if needed, again with critical time savings.

Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation raised just over half of the funds needed to complete this life saving project by selling raffle tickets on a quad. Line Creek Resources donated the vehicle on behalf of Elk Valley Coal Corporation. Lethbridge Community Foundation provided a grant of $9,000 to complete the project.
